Flatbreads are light, fluffy, and a breeze to make. The dough comes together with just a few simple ingredients: Greek yogurt, plain flour, and baking powder. No yeast, no long resting, and barely any kneading required. They make the perfect side dish for dipping into curries, soups, stews, or your favorite dips. They taste better than store-bought and are absolutely delicious. Serve them warm with melted garlic butter spread over the top—completely moreish.

I am so obsessed with these quick and easy flatbreads that they have become a weekly staple in my house. Luckily, they are just as easy to store as they are to make. You can keep them fresh in a container for a few days,or freeze the whole batch for later. To get them tasting fresh again, simply reheat them in the microwave for a few seconds—it brings back that perfect, pillowy softness instantly.

Ingredients you'll need for Quick and Easy Flatbreads

  • Greek yogurt: For a softer, more pliable dough and a richer, chewier texture due to its higher protein and lower moisture content. Regular yogurt can be used, but because it is waterier, the dough may require adjusting with more flour to achieve a similar consistency.
  • Baking powder: Makes the flatbreads puffy during the cooking process, resulting in a softer and airier finished product.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 cup plain yogurt plus 1 tbsp

Directions

  • Mix and knead: In a bowl sift flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Make a well in the centre and add yogurt. Mix well until it forms a soft ball of dough. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth.
  • Shape the dough: Cut the dough into eight equal pieces. Press each piece out with the heel of your hand into rounds, 10-12 cm in diameter.
  • Cook the flatbreads: Heat a large pan on medium heat with 1 tablespoon of oil. Place four pieces of dough into the pan. Cook for 1.5 to 2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Add another tablespoon of oil and cook the final four pieces.
