Craving a sweet, customisable treat but short on time? This easy chocolate bark recipe is the ultimate no-bake dessert that you can whip up in just minutes.
Chocolate bark is an incredibly easy and fun treat to make. Simply melt your favourite chocolate, spread it out on a baking sheet, and pile on your choice of toppings before breaking it into delicious shards. This delightful confection is perfect for any event, and it can last over 14 days at room temperature or in the fridge. Enjoy creating your own unique combinations!
In this simple chocolate bark recipe I have used dark, white and milk chocolate for that marble effect with various toppings that look so pretty. What I like about chocolate bark is that is so adaptable, and it is perfect for the holiday season. Use whatever chocolate or toppings you have in house; great to clean out your pantry if you candy and cookies you want to use up.
Why you'll love making Chocolate Bark
- Easy recipe - This is a recipe that anyone can make, even the kids.
- Customisable - Use your favourite toppings or make it sugar or dairy free. There are lots of flavour combinations that you can use.
- Gift giving - A gift that is homemade is something special and more appreciated. Chocolate bark can be given as a gift anytime of the year, especially at Easter or Christmas. For other gift giving ideas try my white chocolate fudge recipe, dark chocolate rocky road recipe, peanut brittle recipe or sweet and savoury spiced nuts.
Ingredients you'll need for Chocolate Bark
Chocolate - Use good quality chocolate for chocolate bark because it's the main ingredient, providing superior flavour, a smoother melt, and a better texture compared to stabilisers in chips, which can result in a dull, grainy, or waxy bark. Better chocolate, especially bars with high cocoa butter, ensures the final product tastes rich and melts beautifully in your mouth.
I have divided the toppings into large, medium and small for substitution size.
- Large toppings - Nuts of any sort, salted or unsalted, roasted (for that extra crunch) or unroasted, mixed candies, candy canes or coloured marshmallows.
- Medium toppings - Mini smarties or mini M & M's. From the baking isle I bought edible sprinkles that represented the snowflakes from the movie Frozen or shredded coconut.
- Small toppings - Hundreds and thousands or freckles. Freckles are fun to mix and match as they come in separate coloured bags.
