You don’t need a party to enjoy a beautiful spread—a simple charcuterie board for two makes it easy to whip up a stunning, stress-free snack dinner in minutes. Learn how to pair cheeses, meats, and sweet treats to take your next cozy night in to the next level.

So, what is a charcuterie board you might ask, if you don't already know? A charcuterie board is a thoughtfully arranged selection of cured meats, cheeses, crackers, fruits, nuts, and spreads. Typically served on a wooden board or stone slab. While it originally showcased only meats, today’s boards are a popular, customisable, no-cook option for appetisers or social snacking. Offering a delightful mix of textures and sweet-savoury flavours.

To build a perfectly balanced, stress-free charcuterie board for two, aim for about 3-4 types of meat, 2-3 cheeses, and a variety of sweet and savoury accompaniments. A great rule of thumb is to calculate roughly 60- 90g of meat and cheese per person. Focus on variety in texture and flavour, such as creamy Brie paired with sharp cheddar, spicy salami, and sweet fruit.

Assembly tips for your Charcuterie Board

  • Start with bowls: Place dips (beetroot/tahini or hummus) and pickles in bowls first to add structure.
  • Add cheese & meat: Arrange the cheeses and drape meats (like prosciutto) in piles, creating a flow around the bowls.
  • Fill gaps: Fill empty spaces with fresh fruits, nuts, and crackers to create a abundant "grazing" look.
  • Garnish: Add fresh herbs like rosemary or basil for aroma and colour.

Ingredients

  • 115 g Brie or camembert

  • 115 g vintage cheddar

  • 60 g Prosciutto

  • 60 g Italian salami

  • 1-2 handfuls crackers

  • 1/4 cup nuts

  • 1/4 cup olives

  • 1 small bunch grapes

  • 2-3 tbsp fig jam or honey

Directions

  • Anchors First: Place your spread (fig jam or honey) and your olives into tiny ramekins or small bowls. Set them on opposite sides of a small wooden cutting board to serve as your anchors.
  • Position Cheeses: Place the wedge of hard cheese and the soft Brie wheel on opposite sides of the board near the bowls. Slice a few pieces of the hard cheese ahead of time so it looks inviting.
  • Weave the Meats: Fold your salami slices into halves or quarters and line them up in a cascading line through the centre of the board. Loosely ribbon or bunch up the prosciutto slices next to the Brie.
  • Fan the Crackers: Arrange your crackers in a neat, sweeping fan or "S" curve shape filling out the outer edges of the empty spaces.
  • Fill the Gaps: Tuck your fruit bunches (like grapes) next to the cheeses. Finally, scatter the nuts across any remaining bare spots on the board until it looks beautifully full and abundant.
