Hello. Thank you for visiting my blog. I am Marie, the creator of Savour the Taste.
When I first started this blog, it was simply to share my recipes, but over time my focus shifted. Like many others, I live in a two-person household. I love cooking and eating, but I often find that I don’t want to have the same meal twice in a row.
In this blog, I share recipes mainly designed for two people, with a few for family recipes. There are so many households with just two members—young couples, roommates, empty nesters, and divorcees like me. We all need to eat, and just like larger households, we want meals that excite our taste buds.
Duo Dining
The myth about perfect portion
Okay let’s face it: modern recipe culture is fundamentally broken for households of two.
Open almost any cookbook or food app, and you are greeted by the exact same phrase: “Serves 4 to 6.” It is a formula built for a completely different lifestyle. If you are a couple, roommates, or a duo trying to navigate dinner, that standard template forces you into one of two frustrating traps.
- Leftovers. You cook the massive meal anyway, and suddenly your fridge is a graveyard of identical plastic containers. You end up eating the exact same dinner for four nights straight until you completely lose your appetite for it.
- Kitchen math nightmare: You try to divide the recipe in half on the fly, end up staring blankly at a fractional measurement, guess the math, and ruin the texture of your dinner entirely.
Space built exclusively for two
This blog is a math-free zone. We believe that cooking for a duo shouldn't mean eating scaled-down, depressing versions of big meals, nor should it mean spending a fortune on take aways because cooking feels like an exhausting chore.
It is entirely possible to cook vibrant, chef-level dinners that leave you with empty plates, a clean fridge, and exactly two satisfying portions.
What you can expect from this blog
- The clean-slate guarantee: Recipes built from the ground up to yield two generous plates. No calculations, no scaling down, and absolutely no boring reruns tomorrow night.
- Minimal Cleanup Date Nights: High-end, romantic evening menus engineered to look spectacular on the plate and don't leave you with a ton of dishes to wash. let's face who like washing dishes after a spectular meal.
A little about me
Ever since I was young, I was interested in cooking and would spend many hours watching my mum cook. My mum was a brilliant cook, and I learnt a lot from her. I grew up in an Italian/Maltese household with rich, rustic fusion of Mediterranean and North African cuisines. Fresh seafood, pasta dishes, seasonal vegetables and flavourful stews. I now have a job as a Food Techology teacher, teaching kids how to cook.
My Recipes
Recipes here do not follow the latest trends; my focus is on fresh, flavourful and affordable. Delicious starters, mains, snacks and sweet treats that you and your family and friends will enjoy eating using simple ingredients.
There are all types of recipes for everyone, so take the time, browse and enjoy.
Marie xx
