Ingredients you'll need to make Nutella Mouse

  • Nutella: Provides an instant, intense chocolate-hazelnut flavour and a velvety, creamy base
  • Heavy cream: Best results, choose a pourable cream that is around 35% fat. It is known for its thick consistency, creating stable whipped cream for desserts.
  • Vanilla extract: Enhances the chocolate and hazelnut flavours.

Ingredients

  • 160 g Nutella

  • 300 ml heavy whipping cream

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • Optional: chopped hazelnuts, chocolate shavings, or fresh strawberries

Directions

  • Soften the Nutella: Place the Nutella in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 10–15 seconds until it is slightly loosened and smooth. Let it cool to room temperature.
  • Whip the Cream: In a separate chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract using an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to over-whip into butter.
  • Combine: Gently fold the softened Nutella into the whipped cream using a spatula. Work slowly to maintain the airiness until no streaks remain.
  • Portion and Chill: Spoon or pipe the mixture into 2 to 4 serving glasses or ramekins. Refrigerate for at least 2–4 hours before serving to allow it to firm up.

Notes

  • Tips for Success
Cold Ingredients are key: Ensure the heavy cream is very cold before whipping. Chill your mixing bowl and whisk attachment in the freezer for 15 minutes before starting for better results.
Don't Overwhip: Watch the cream carefully; overwhipping will make it grainy.
Soften the Nutella: If the Nutella is too thick, it will be hard to combine with the whipped cream, causing you to lose air in the folding process.
Gentle folding: Use a rubber spatula to gently fold in the cream. Do not stir vigorously, as this will cause the mousse to deflate.
